York Region District School Board is the third largest school district in Ontario, with over 120,000 students in 170 elementary schools and 31 secondary schools. York Region students consistently perform above average in provincial testing and the Board is one of the top achievers in Ontario. Vanier, Canada’s second native-born Governor General, Vanier College opened its on September 8, 1970, welcoming close to 1,400 students in its cohort.
