The global community is a vital part of Medicine Hat College. The college's international activity is guided by the philosophy that education and learning is greatly enhanced by an understanding of different cultures, languages and peoples. By incorporating a global focus in its programming, serving a diverse range of Canadian and international students, and providing opportunities for work and study abroad, the college aims to provide all learners with opportunities to develop the skills and attitudes required to function successfully in an interconnected global society, world, and economy.

MHC offers three options to travel and study abroad.

· Student Exchange

Through an exchange agreement with a partner university or college, each institution allows select full time students in good academic standing to enrol at a partner institution for one semester. Students remain registered at their home institution while on exchange and therefore do not have to apply for re-admission upon return. Accommodations, meals, mandatory medical insurance, books, personal expenses and travel costs, as well as any additional fees at the host institution are the responsibility of the student.

· Short Term Study Abroad

The Short Term Study Abroad option of the International Mobility Program is initiated by a faculty member from the program you are registered in. Once initiated, International Education will assist a faculty member who wishes to lead a Short Term Study Abroad program.

· International Degree Completion

Medicine Hat College is proud to facilitate relationships with international universities and colleges that are willing to offer Medicine Hat College diploma graduates the opportunity to earn an international degree. Medicine Hat College has entered and continues to enter into "Block Transfer Agreements." This enables our diploma graduates to transfer their Medicine Hat College diploma to international partner institutions for credit towards a four-year bachelor's degree. In most agreements, you will be able to complete the bachelor's program in two additional years of study abroad. The college continues to research and present new opportunities and will assist you in achieving your educational goals.
