Because we are a small university, you can be sure that your name will be known and your voice will be heard, Classes are small, professors are accessible, and there are many opportunities to be involved in everything from hands-on research and student government, to sports and societies. 1. What you can study The Mount offers a wide range of bachelor degrees in arts and science, professional programs, such as business administration and tourism, and a variety of different certificates and diplomas. We also offer a Bachelor of Education degree and a number of graduate degrees. Our programs are well respected and some of them are unique. For example, we offer the only four-year bachelor’s degree program in public relations in Canada, and our Bachelor of Arts (Child and Youth Study) is the only one of its kind in the Atlantic region. We were also the first university in Canada to establish a program dedicated to tourism and hospitality management.
2. Your study options
There are many different ways to study at the Mount, whether you are finishing high school, a mature student planning to continue your education, a student from abroad, or someone who wants to transfer from another educational institution. We have full-time, part-time and distance learning options to help you study in a way that fits your lifestyle.
Travelling is also a great way to enrich your education experience and you’ll find the Mount has plenty to choose from. We have developed 19 exchange agreements with universities in many countries around the world, from China and Korea to Spain and Sweden, to give you the opportunity to study abroad and gain knowledge of other cultures. 3. Activities outside the classroom Whatever your interests, we have something for you. There are varsity and intramural sports, plus a well-equipped fitness center. Our Students’ Union offers plenty of ways to be involved, from managing our student newspaper to organizing our Winter Carnival. There are also lots of student societies, clubs and volunteer opportunities to choose from. And, of course, downtown Halifax is just minutes away by bus with your U-pass. 4. Support We offer one of the best scholarship programs in the country. Last year, over 300 students were offered entrance scholarships totaling almost a million dollars. Bursary support is also available, plus there is a wide variety of on-campus jobs to help you fund your education.
In addition to financial support, the Mount offers excellent library and online resources. A Writing Centre, career counselling and day-care facilities. All of our students have wifi internet access, and Moodle, our e-learning community which brings professors and students together to share information, do group work, link to library resources and submit assignments. If you want to take a course over the summer, you can even do that through distance learning. 5.
